Jess Jaros, co-owner of Fenico Precision Castings in Paramount, passed away on Saturday, July 20 at the age of forty-nine following a long illness. Fenico came to Paramount in 1988 as a small start-up business, it was not long before Jess and partner Don Tomeo had more work than they could handle and their business grew by leaps and bounds. From the beginning Fenico has been a good neighbor and generous contributor to the Paramount community. Jess and Don both served as mentors for the Paramount High Mentors program and are regular contributors to the school district. Fenico was the recipient of this years Chamber's President's Award, which recognizes businesses for their "Paramount" contributions to the community.

At memorial services held on Friday, July 26, Don Tomeo spoke of his twenty-four year friendship with Jess and of the tremendous loss felt by everyone at the company. He also spoke of Jess's warm and friendly demeanor and his strong sense of honesty and ethics. According to Peggy Lemons, Executive Director of the Paramount Chamber, "It is a terrible loss, Jess was one of those rare people who made you feel like you had the most important job in the world, that giving was just part of life. You felt good just being around him, I will miss him a lot"

The Jaros family has asked that donations in lieu of flowers be sent to:

Brain Tumor Virtual Trial,C/O Dr. Al Musella
399 Peninsula Blvd, Cedarhurst, NY 11516
Checks should be made payable to Dr. Musella

Tax exempt status is not yet approved but the nation-wide group of doctors involved in establishing this very new research project has been in contact with Jess and his family for the past year. The research will benefit the thousands of people every year in this country diagnosed with this devastating disease.

When Does A Man Die

I attended the funeral of a friend who had just passed away and I will never forget the sermon I heard that day. The kindly old minister opened his bible though the scritpture he had never read, he just gazed out among the mourners.. and this is what he said:

When does a man die? This world no longer roam. When does a man die? When is he really gone? To his wife and his children and those who hold him dear, they can just close their eyes and he will always be near. For a man does not die when he passes away, his body grows cold and turns back to clay. For he is still with us and walks in the land... in the hearts and minds of women and men. So when does a man die? This world no longer roam. When does a man die when is he really gone? When the last one who knew him passes away... then a man dies he has no reason to stay.
