Intra-operative MRI

This is a big advancement if the field of brain tumor surgery. Previously, pre-operative MRI scans were used as the basis for the 3-D navigation system used to tell the surgeon where the tumor was. The problem with this is that after the operation starts, the brain sometimes moves a little - which makes the pre-op imaging out of synch with the guidence system. Intra-operative MRI solves this problem by allowing a new scan to take place while the patient is in surgery. Click HERE for more details!
